General provisions
Foreign citizens and stateless persons arriving in Russia for the purpose of entering, studying at Kostroma State University (hereinafter - KSU), including students of the additional educational program "Russian as a Foreign Language", as well as arriving in the framework of international academic mobility programs of KSU, must strictly comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation, including following the migration rules of the Russian Federation.
If a foreign citizen decided to come to the Russian Federation, he needs to know the basic rules for the stay of foreign citizens in Russia. Please treat this information with great responsibility.
Primary migration registration
Upon arrival in the city of Kostroma and checking into the dormitory of KSU, a foreign citizen submits the following documents to the International Department of KSU within TWO days (excluding holidays and weekends):
- passport and its copy, a copy of the visa (if any) in the 1st copy
- migration card and its copy
In the case of living in a dwelling that does not belong to KSU (hotel, hostel, renting a dwelling, living in an apartment of relatives, etc.), the hotel or hostel administers migration registration in the authorized body - within ONE day from the date of settlement or an individual - the owner of a dwelling - within SEVEN working days from the date of arrival of a foreign citizen at a place of stay on the territory of the Russian Federation. After migration registration at the place of actual residence, it is necessary to provide documents confirming this fact to the International Department of KSU: passport, migration card and a detachable part of the notification of arrival.
Extension of a visa
IMPORTANT! Only visas issued at the invitation of KSU or other universities are subject to extension (in the case of transferring students to KSU to continue their studies in full-time or part-time form of study of the main educational program).
To extend a visa, a foreign citizen, as a rule, no later than TWO months before the expiration of the valid visa, applies to the International Department for consultations and the formation of the necessary package of documents.
Renewing migration accountingat the location of temporary residence
The period of temporary stay in the Russian Federation of a foreign citizen, who has arrived in the Russian Federation for the purpose of training and enters an educational institution to receive full-time or part-time education under the main educational program having state accreditation, is extended until the end of the term of study of this foreign citizen in full-time or part-time correspondence form in the specified educational organization.
The period of temporary stay of a foreign citizen studying under the additional educational program "Russian as a Foreign Language" may be extended for the period of the course of study according to the contract.
Temporary stay in the Russian Federation of a foreign citizen arriving at KSU in the framework of international academic mobility programs can be extended for the period specified in the order for admission to study / internship.
In this regard, a foreign citizen must take timely measures to extend migration registration or leave the territory of the Russian Federation.
The list of documents submitted by a foreign citizen to the International Department for the extension of migration registration:
- passport and its copy in the 1st copy (all completed pages)
- copy of visa (if there is a visa)
- migration card and its copy in the 1st copy
- the detachable part of the notification form with the migration registration and its copy in the 1st copy
- temporary residence permit, residence permit in the Russian Federation, work permit, patent (if any) and its copy in the 1st copy
- contract for studying at KSU
Change of residense (registration)
When changing the place of stay in the Russian Federation (checking into a KSU dormitory, moving from one KSU dormitory to another, staying in another city and staying in a hotel, hostel or apartment), a foreign citizen must submit the following documents to the International Department within TWO working days for registration at the new place of stay:
- rental agreement for a room in the KSU dormitory
- passport, visa (if any) and their copies in the 1st copy
- migration card and its copy in the 1st copy
- the detachable part of the notification form on the arrival of a foreign citizen or stateless person at the place of stay and its copy in the 1st copy
Removing from the register
When leaving the Russian Federation, a foreign citizen must INFORM KSU International Department about the departure in advance, giving the exact date of departure and the expected date of return.
Upon returning from vacation (another trip) within TWO days, submit to the International Department of KSU a passport and a migration card, as well as copies of these documents for timely registration with the migration register.
Responsibility of foreign citizens
Foreign citizens who have committed crimes, administrative or other offenses on the territory of the Russian Federation are liable in accordance with the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses and the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
